Chopin’s Heart

Symbolism is for wimps...

When Frederick Chopin died on October 17th, 1849, one of his requests was that his heart be removed and sent back to Poland, the land of his birth. It’s been entombed in a memorial pillar in a church in Poland ever since.

Having your heart cut out after death, as a poetic gesture: how cool is that?
