Wiarton Willie, the only rodent employed by Environment Canada, disagrees with his American counterpart Punxsutawney Phil. Willie has predicted and early spring, hence an early summer. I’m glad he’s making his own decisions, not just following the current groundhog trends. Maybe he knows more about climate change than the American groundhog…
Groundhog Day, like the Bill Murray film of the same name, is a monument to the human obsession with pointless ritual. It’s amazing that people still do this, especially since the groundhogs don’t seem to be very interested. They must be humouring us.
I bet Bill Murray can’t even listen to this song anymore.
