“Christmas Blues” by Canned Heat

If you’re getting sick of hearing endless versions of “Last Christmas” and that Bieber/Carey abomination, then Canned Heat have got you covered. Check out this decidedly un-cheery “Christmas Blues”, featuring Dr.John on piano. Apparently this was recorded in the late 1960s, but wasn’t released till recently.

  1. Thanks for remembering Canned Heat! I found this post through a Google search, and look forward to exploring the rest of your blog.

If you’d like to hear more Canned Heat material, I’d recommend a visit to the tribute site at AlanWilsonCannedHeat.com. It’s dedicated to the band’s founder, Alan “Blind Owl” Wilson, and contains copious video links along with rare photos, memorabilia, writings and more. I’m a contributor there and have also written a bio of Wilson which is available at http://BlindOwlBio.com.

Thanks again for featuring this great blues recording – and as Canned Heat always said, don’t forget to boogie!
