This is one of the best Christmas covers I’ve heard in a while. The Kills strip “Silent Night” down to the bare bones, and Allison Mosshart applies her haunting, bluesy vocals to this 200-year-old hymn. I suggest listening to this when the overwhelming Christmas-ness of everything starts to get to you; it’ll put all of those glossy holiday tunes into perspective, by showing that some of this music has true meaning at its core.
