Awesome Tune: “Precious And Grace”

I’ve decided to start a new feature for songs that transcend themselves and enter the highest echelon of awesomeness. Awesome Tune will be this obviously-named recurring post, dedicated to greatest of the facemelters.

My first entry is a bit of a carry-over from my post from yesterday, featuring Mark Lanegan prominently. This is “Precious And Grace”, a bonus track from the “Lullabies To Paralyze” album by Queens Of The Stone Age.

This song is awesome for three reasons:

1) It’s a ZZ Top cover.
2) It has duelling vocals by Lanegan and Billy Gibbons himself.
3) As if that weren’t enough, Josh Homme and Gibbons trade amazing guitar solos over this hyper-charged blues rocker.

If you don’t listen to this tune nice and loud, the Gods of Rock shall forsake you.

Here is the studio-recorded version:

And just for kicks, here’s a live version from the album’s DVD where you actually get to watch them do this. Lanegan sings the whole thing on this version:
